Let’s forget about the fundamentals of a company for a bit.

This whole idea of LensKart is, I think, based on euphoria. Once that settles down, the company will go down.

I have been wearing glasses since class 10th, 2006, and I purchased glasses just once from LensKart. At first, it seemed like glasses were cheap, good, one plus one free, that's too good, but once you start using them, it turns out that the price was overpriced for even just one glass. There are no major brands available on its platform. That’s why I always purchase glasses from Titan Eye Plus (lots of brands—cheap and best). The second issue— online prescription glasses purchase is a big headache. You can't provide them with the focal point of the eye, which optimists take with their machine in stores.

My opinion—one can go for IPO issue gain but don't expect much from the company in the long term.

Again, just my opinion, which doesn’t necessarily have to be correct.

I have been using lenskart from the time it exists. I guess 2011 or 2012. It glasses kind of just fits me. I am too lazy to go out to order and then pick again. I do not look anywhere else as it just works. Probably same reason i have stuck to bigbasket for almost same time. They are not cheap. They have their own brands (whatever they may be). Two pair of glasses last for me for 3 years without a problem.

My problem with their ipo is that I dont know what different will do which will improve their profitability. They have been in business for more than decade. Have online / offline presence. What will do with ipo money which they could not do with VC money. Will new factory help emough? And at this price, stock doesn't make sense. Probably, it is just good exit for investors.

3 different Side/aspect of the Story
1-Angel /VC Primary Investor.
2-New Retail.
3-QIB/MF/Big Investor/Major Stake Holder.
It's a well calculated strategies by Big Fish always ✅ 👍

Lenkskart is atleast working on new tech. like automated eye power detecting machines without any human need. We will be just able to walk in to any lenskart kiosk and get our power checked. But dont know what will happen to oyo, meesho, physics wallah IPOs. Very little chance for further growth in them. Heard that hotel owners r actually breaking up their contracts with OYO due to poor business

Unless they invent way to automate eye power check using our phone or computer, I don't think store automated eye check is going to help much in value. Peeyush mentioned couple of yeara back that they tried but not much success. I will be more optimistic about their smart goggles / glasses.

I am not optimistic about physicswallah or most edtech. I have never purchased from meesho but i guess they captured good market. Not sure about their business much or what they are going to do with more public money. Oyo. I will not even talk about it.

Some new gen company that may possibly work well are razorpay, juspay, Acko.

Same here, never purchased from Meesho. I don't think it will find its foothold in this space that easily. Look what happened to SanpDeal. The only thing which can happen in the future if Meesho succeeds, which seems impossible now, is the accusation by bigger players. But since all the bigger players in this arena already have their hands full in all departments, I don't think there is any further space to expand. I saw an article today that Amazon US is removing 30K employees (over-recruited during the pandemic).

Edu-tech - NEVER

Lenskart - Not going to work, until unless they changed their route.

Meesho had some success already. Giant like Amazon wouldn't have copied it otherwise with Amazon bazaar (budget marketplace). Also, it has narrowed down it losses better than many other e-commerce. Not sure of much detail but whatever i know from some light reading.

Orkla India which is part of Orkla Europe more like a investment firm is open for IPO subscription tomorrow. They own MTR Ready mix foods. I will apply few lots. Good business is South and they don't own the MTR restaurant business.

And Studds helmet IPO is coming. I don't see any attractiveness in it though I have used it and liked their quality. I will give it a miss.
