AXIS CONTINUING ITS SHENANIGANS

Cathay Pacific Correction (1).webp

Axis credited 2x points for Cathay Pacific. And when I dropped an email this is their response:

I wish to clarify that 5X miles will be credited only if the transaction was done on Axis Bank Travel EDGE Portal /direct airline (website / application) using Atlas Credit Card. Please note that bookings made through any travel agency, including but not limited to any private travel agents, corporate travel agents, online travel agencies or their websites/IVR systems, shall be eligible for only 2 Miles for every INR 100 spent. Accordingly, 1,382 miles have been credited to your edge account.

ARE YOU SERIOUS? THESE GUYS HAVE AN OFFER RUNNING ON THE CATHAY PACIFIC WEBSITE. AND THEN THEY TELL ME THAT CATHAY PACIFIC IS A TRAVEL AGENCY?

What options do I have here?

It is a known issue. Also reported earlier on this forum by a few folks. Simple search would have helped

Cathy pacific does not use Airline MCC, it uses travel agent MCC which is not eligible for 5 miles

You can fight out with the bank and also connect with folks on this forum who had such experience. But most likely, bank will maintain its stand

Edit: Attaching previous threads

There is no way to pay in HKD for flights departing from India. I tried the app, the website, everything. So I used Amex instead.
Usually via the app. But, they are not allowing flight bookings originating from India via the app, most likely due to the new rule taking effect on April 1st, requiring payment details to be shared with the government.

Amex Plat Travel and SBI Cashback are the best cards to use for Cathay direct booking on their website

HKD booking on Atlas will entail 4.13% forex fees which is an unnecessary expense

It was not possible to change the currency/region via the app back in August either, unfortunately. Departure from India would restore the currency to INR at checkout.

+1, used SBI Cashback to pay for rescheduling recently. Got 5% back.

Thank god I saw this thread. Recently was booking Cathay Pacific flight from Ban to Hong Kong and was confused between Atlas and dinners black metal. Now after seeing this, will go with Dinners Black Metal.

What if one books a RETURN booking - first for an incoming flight from abroad (whixh will be cancelled on the next day) and then an outgoing flight from India (which will be retained).

Will it permit paying in forex ?

Forget about charges. Just curious.

Return Flight from a foreign country to India and back is usually more expensive than the same return flight from India.
This is based on the standard of living and purchasing power in that foreign country
