ICICI CREDITED 7K in my savings account

Hi Something strange has happened with me. I got a sms saying ₹7000 was credited to my ICICI SBA. On account of CMS* CC RBI 10 F*ICICI BANK it seems like some compensation for RBI Ombudsman complaint at looks of it. But I didn't raise any complaint as such. Has anyone faced this before. What exactly is the reason for credit?

Hi Guys,

I have got it clarified from the bank. Recently I purchased an OP device which had the Exchange Bonus Cashback. OnePlus has refunded the Exchange bonus to my Card Account in form of refund for the Original Price I paid for the new device. That Refund is reversed back into my account.

Also Wealth Management Associate told me, this is recent RBI policy to credit the Refund back to customer SBA if they had any in the bank.

Assuming you have a ICICI credit card. This is actually your credit card refund. As per new rules the refund can be given back to the savings account of the customer id available with the bank issuing the card if not then it is automatically given to the credit card.

Recently RBI has changed the credit card transaction refund rules a lot. Most the rules provide better refund clarity and on the direction to reduce disputes related to it.

Did you make any excess payment to your credit card or did you receive any refund after paying credit card bill. Most likely it's because of excess bill payment. So check your credit card current statement page in a few days. You will see this credit transaction. I had a similar experience few months ago. Sorry for spoiling the party though 😔.

It's probably the Credit Card Refund amount. ICICI has started doing this for quite a some time now.

if you are not aware of this transaction, u should connect with the bank to understand the source. there have been cases where people have used the money and post that recovery happens and it becomes a nightmare for them!

They should find a suitable name for such transactions. When I googled with the Transaction name provided in the account Statement it was suggesting me like it is a compensation. 😕

So it was a simple refund of excess balance
