In my expericence ( in 10's of people) about 50% got without income proof and some were asked for Income proof..
It is completely dependent upon your credit profile , location and Amex's algorithm.. Having said that there were plenty of people who got without income proof and some were asked for Income proof... Ask any further doubts in DM as the doubts you have , may be of personal in nature
