As @HumorSimpson mentioned, all the exaggerated reward rates mentioned are to attract newbies to get amex cards and thus pocket the referral bonus.
The real reward rate as I have mentioned multiple times in various forums is around 6% (Now that the 1% extra on Billpay is gone)
amex is a referral side hustle for many... amex is not a normal person card.. only who can use at premium hotel / airlines etc... that too if u accumulate enough.. avoidable
@HumorSimpson Not that much of a mental trauma for me😉since I hold just MRCC and I have a fixed pattern of spends every month on that card. So in month end, I just check if I have reached 20k. Most probably I will be in range of 18k. Then I buy 2k AGC from Reward Multiplier and it's over. The advantage of amex is that it credits the bonus MR points immediately on attaining the milestone. So there is no doubt whether I have attained it or not
@SonyTom - if one's spending pattern is fixed and playing with one amex card is not that much of a trauma. But, many try to squeeze trifrakata of amex cards , by wallet loading etc , this is trauma.
Bro, get HDFC Millennia, SBI cashback or HDFC Swiggy and live peacefully. Any bank or cobranded card giving 5% is enough for mental peace. There are others too but hard to get. IDFC CC have good rate too. Just remember one thing that max. you can get is 6% rest all are marketing strategies to fool customers.
