Can't we just keep the account as it is after withdrawing any available amount, to avoid the hassle of this lengthy account closure process? I mean, what's the need to close the account? It will be dormant anyway after a year.

@Ram1 banks ask that and mostly say that if there is any fixed deposit then savings can't be closed. Whether you tell them or not, they can easily see on their system if they want to.

@telescope Yup fds can be seen, without withdrawing fds nobody can close account. I was curious about asking credit card

true. just visited PNB today. they asked 5 customers to wait , for doing papers filing in almirah.

i spent 45 min there to get a debit card application processed.
