There are no extra charges. Even if it exceeds the limit due to interest / GST / fees etc., you won't be charged. For your safety, make sure you do not enable over the limit (unless necessary).
Have personal experiences twice.

I did it once with SBI card. They slashed my limit by half as soon as I paid the bill.

Just hope HDFC isn't like SBI.

@cardio_guy , I am not able to recall exactly, but I was on the same juncture sometime back.
I was not sure, HDFC system will allow payment of more than the limit. But transaction got executed successfully and I used more than 1.2 x limit may be 1.4 or 1.5 x, and it was categorised as International Transaction.
After ontime repayment haven't experienced any issues so far.
Tax GST etc, I can't recall exactly.
What I can recall now is, It was some certification fees (for 4 person) of US or Europe.

No they CANT charge interest but they can block the cc claiming you broke fair use policy.

Yes and axis block rp or even cc. Hdfc just temp blocks the cc. Has happened with me 2 , 3 times. It automatically gets unblocked in next billing cycle.

Followup question, please. The bill got generated for 1,51,800 on March 12th and I have almost 20 days to pay the bill. Is it possible to use the card again, before paying the bill? In other words - credit limit exhausted and bill generated. Can I use it in the next month before paying the bill? Will there be any overlimit charges or problems?
