No need to worry.... The branch has endorsed the cheque on its own name as they will be collecting in their own collection/suspense account (and credit to your account once it is opened effective from the date of collection).
This change of name in favour of the bank is normal for cheques issued for account opening and other purposes, where direct credit to your account doesnt happen.
Regarrding RK Salai - so it could be the case the cheque presenting branch is RKSalai branch in Chennai as per IDFC's CTS system....or the pooling/collection account is maintained centrally at RKSalai branch.
Theek narration drawer bank (HDFC) ke liye:
3 chiz toh main hai 3 o missing hai, i.e, Payee/ Beneficiary name, mode (along with cheque number), payee's bank name
Are you talking about the statement of IDFC, right? If such narration is only showing in IDFC, then it's Ok, IG.
@Aniket : Also, on the other point - Yes, those 3 things should be captured correctly, but it depends on the person feeding the data in the CTS system....many a times they dont mention these things, and just write something like "CHQ TRF" or whatever..... but the ideal process is to capture those details correctly, so that customer can validate these things on his own while looking at the bank statement.
And I think OP is talking about the narration on the debit account (HDFC), hence is concerned that money is going to someone else instead of himself.
It's not only ideal, but directed by RBI, because earlier they were not passing adequate entries. So, if they are still doing otherwise then it amounts to violation/ non compliance.
Even, IDFC ke statement mein bhi atleast HDFC and cheque number rehna chahiye...
Although seen your post now but still clearing things for you.
When a cheque is submtted to a bank that bank sends digital copy of it to issuing bank. In your case IDFC send it to HDFC. As they clear in batches and mostly cheques are send twice a day by banks. If by 1 PM then it will clear same day but credit to your account will come next day. If by 5PM then this will clear next day and credit comes next to next day. Also amount is not transferred directly by issuing bank to customer account. It first comes to bank's sundry account and they run command to credit it to customer's account.
Receiving Bank here IDFC. After HDFC cleared your cheque, they debited account and send amt to IDFC. Now this amt came in IDFC sundry account and until the branch verfies this txn and clears it the credit wont reflect in your account. Sometimes they do it late by evening so in that case also you will see credit next morning.
Another thing that matter is whether Clearing House exist at customer's location or not. If not then the digital hceque copy is sent to nearest clearing house and it takes more time.
So Issue Date + 1 Day is normal if both are working days. Also Issue Date + 2 days is fine too. Debiting of amount doesn't mean it should credit immediately to your account. This is not a stuff like NEFT.
Can you confirm you opened in RK SALAI BRANCH or not?
