I would suggest get the annual membership in Dec then since it's not going to change your status for this year. Diamond has 26k status points criteria which I don't think is possible now.

You should wait till Dec for purchase Status points resets on 31st December midnight So unless you are already at 24k status points , you won't get upgraded to Diamond this year.
