A friend of mine has a HSBC CC default from 2009. Amount due since then is 40k. And his cibil has tanked because of this. The bank is okay with settling it at 20k. Will this impact the cibil more? They are finally looking to settle this and work on improving their CIBIL. Please post your...

Long story short, had a 20k limit cc from hdfc in '18 that became delinquent (tagged as "willfully defaulted/suit filed") from 3rd month itself to now 40k+ total due to charges, settled it 2 months ago for 20k only (Settled, not closed)... CIBIL shows all the months in red since 2018 to now ofc...
