My 2 cents- stay clear of anything offered by Jio/Ambani until alternate is available.

Abhi bhi jio sim use karta hoon, yearly reacharge kiya hai isliye use kar raha hoon, iske baad Airtel mai shift kar lunga.

Even air fiber bhi Jio ka skip karke Airtel ka lagwaya hai.

I had a few 5 gb jio data vouchers that I got when I bought a dongle or something, don't really remember. Out of they, 3 vouchers of 5 gb are pending use, but after Jio changed their plans in July'24, those vouchers are not getting applied. I have a yearly plan on they number and the error is that the plan is not valid to use the voucher. I escalate to jio support, they replied that I need to have a valid plan, I asked them I already have a 1 year active plan, so what more valid plan is needed, no reply. Escalated to jio appellate, jio appellate has given a copy paste exact same reply as Jio support.
That value of those 3 vouchers of 5 gb will not be more than 150-160 INR in total, and kanjoos jio is not ready to reinstate those vouchers. I am going to port my numbers out of jio once the yearly plan ends.
Have never seen a more chindi company in my life!!

cryptomator - how to do this brother.

Download from here cryptomator . Install on PC/Mac. Encrypt the folder you want to upload with a password. Then upload that in cloud. Purpose of this is even cloud provider itself cannot read you data. Data can only be read on PC/Phone or any gadget by installing Cryptomator app.

I upload all my photos and documents to google drive and one drive via cryptomator only. If you need further guide you can see some videos or follow the reddit cryptomator community.

Indians do not have any problem regarding sharing of data with foreign companies using jio network as such foreign companies wiil not sell their data. How facebook, twitter and google is selling our data to politicians and companies is well known. Their only issue is with sharing with indian companies and remebers the indian crabs story

It's not about Indians. It's about privacy and Data security. There have been several times when data breaches have happened. If we are a little conscious, we can protect ourselves.

By the way, I stopped using Google as a search engine a few years ago. I use my own search engine(based on SearXNG) running on the server. I use Protonmail for daily emailing stuff. I stopped using fb and Instagram after the Cambridge analytics case. Using signal as a WhatsApp alternative. All time VPN running for other online activity along with PrivateDNS ControlD and Adblocker Adguard.

I know not everybody follows a similar setup. But people become aware of their data. When they understand How data can manipulate their decision, people will stop sharing.

Definitely somebody can argue that our data is already with that Big company. But the continuation of the data is the most important. If we stop giving our data, soon our existing data on their server will be obsolete for them.

In the end, I am not a Privacy and Data security expert.

Definitely it's not about Indians but about Indian companies. A person with 150000 apple phone feels like if Ambani stops giving freebies and charges 250 per month, it is bad and abuse him.I definitely benefited by the jio revolution and made good business, acquired lot of knowledge due to their easy access and cheap data. Happily giving a small part of money earned to jio or airtel for their services.No regrets .
