Able to make UPI payment with Axis Ace credit card linked with google gpay

Hey Technofino members,

I wanted to share with all of you that while making a UPI QR code payment today using gpay I got option to pay through Axis Ace Card.
So I have added Axis ace card on my gpay along with other Rupay cards too and usually whenever I scan a QR code gpay only gives me option to pay through my bank directly or through Rupay CC. But today while making payment at my son's school when I scanned the QR code from HDFC PoS terminal, I was shown Rupay Cards as well as Axis ACE credit to complete the payment and I made payment with Axis ACE and it was successfully completed (I know i'll not get 2% cashback as since 15th June they excluded education mcc)

But anyone aware how come Axis ACE which is a VISA credit card able to make payment on UPI QR code?

Yes, I just checked and Gpay is allowing to pay via Axis Ace Visa credit card on UPI payments.

GPay and Paytm allows payments through qr codes via Visa cards...it is limited to a few merchants...
You mentioned HDFC terminal...it mostly allows it. I would say it's not UPI technically but Scan and Pay.

It is Bharat QR code not a dedicated UPI QR Code.

For Txn Authorization You must have entered OTP not a Six/Four Digits UPI PIN.

If someone swipes their card in PoS machine vs pays through Bharat QR generated out of the same PoS machine, is there any possibility to receive different MCC?

No as the merchant receiving the money is the same the only difference here would be mdr if it is lower for ecom transactions

No, Same MCC in both scenario but if swipe machine is from another bank or issuer then MCC may be different.

yes
there are many visa cards that alow transcations on bharat pe merchant qr as well

bharat qr accepts all visa, mc, amex and rupay credit card along with upi.

Also bharat qr and bharatpe qr are different. Bharat qr is developed by npci while bharatpe is similar to paytm and co-founded by Ashneer Grover

I think this is not UPI transaction. This is merchant based service
