Address Mismatch Issue with HDFC Tata Neu Credit Card Application – Seeking Advice

Hi everyone,

I’m sharing my recent experience with applying for the HDFC Tata Neu Credit Card and need some advice on how to proceed.

I applied for the card via the Tata Neu app in the first week of December. Unfortunately, I missed entering a part of my address—specifically the post office—which has been recently updated to a new taluk. This discrepancy caused an address mismatch with the records HDFC has, and I received a rejection email shortly after.

When I responded to the rejection email, they informed me that the reason was the address mismatch and asked me to send a declaration letter to their Chennai branch. I sent the letter within a few days and followed up via email. Over the next few weeks, they extended the review period and assured me that they were working on a solution.

Last week, I escalated the issue to the Principal Nodal Officer (PNO) by forwarding the entire email thread. Subsequently, an HDFC representative visited my home for address verification. However, to my surprise, I received another rejection email today.

To add to my concerns:
1. I already hold an HDFC credit card with a ₹1.6L limit.
2. They conducted two CIBIL inquiries in the first week of December for this application.

Now, I’m unsure about my next steps. Should I escalate this further to the Banking Ombudsman, or should I reply to the PNO again requesting reconsideration? I feel this rejection is unjust given the circumstances and my existing relationship with HDFC.

Would appreciate your suggestions and guidance!

Thanks in advance!

I meant, reason for 2nd time rejection after sharing address documents.

Just forwarded the below mail. Let's wait for the response

Dear HDFC Bank PNO,

I am writing with extreme disappointment regarding the rejection of my HDFC Tata Neu Infinity Credit Card application (Ref: 24L02D19989650UE), despite having addressed all concerns raised by your team.

This matter, escalated under grievance redressal reference number 64732236, was assuredly under review. Yet, I received another rejection email on January 22, 2025, after address verification was successfully completed on January 21, 2025. This reflects a blatant disregard for fairness and transparency in the application process.

To reiterate the facts:
1. My application was initially rejected due to a minor issue—missing the post office detail in my address—while all other details (door number, street, city, and PIN code) were accurate.
2. I complied with your instructions by submitting a declaration letter to the Chennai branch.
3. Address verification was conducted and successfully completed.
4. Two CIBIL inquiries were made in December 2024 for this application, negatively affecting my credit score unnecessarily.

Despite all these steps, my application was rejected, citing vague internal policy requirements. This is not only unfair but also discriminatory, considering I am an existing HDFC Bank customer with an impeccable repayment history and a credit card limit of ₹1.66L. I am a HDFC Bank customer for over 5 years.

I view this rejection as an unfair business practice and a violation of RBI guidelines that mandate equitable treatment of customers. If this matter is not resolved to my satisfaction, I will have no choice but to escalate this issue to the Banking Ombudsman (RBIO) for redressal of this unfair treatment and the discrimination I have faced.

I demand:
1. A detailed explanation of why my application was rejected, despite the successful address verification and submission of required documents.
2. Reconsideration of my application immediately.

This matter must be resolved at the earliest. I trust HDFC Bank will take this issue seriously and respond with the urgency it deserves.

Regards,
Nandhakumar S
