Air India Class Upgrade Voucher Redemption

Hello community,

I've recently booked Premium Economy on Air India via Cash and was hoping to use class upgrade voucher to upgrade to Business Class via my brother's upgrade voucher. Spoke to few people and they told me they could successfully redeem the voucher for Eco -> PE via Contact Center. I tried my luck but was told that the upgrade voucher can only be redeemed at Airport during Check-In. Does anybody have any recent experience for upgrading from PE -> Biz.

1. Will they accept screenshot of voucher code or they need to see it on AI app?
2. Can the voucher be redeemed only if there is Reward seat available or can be redeemed on Revenue seat as well?

1. You need to open the app and they will redeem it
2. Unsure but what I have heard any seat available can be upgraded as there are are only 2 awar seats per flight generally and they are always booked.

My Flight has 1 Award Seat available for redemption via points which was confirmed by call center guy. But, he said you can redeem the voucher at Check-In counter only :/

YES, on 31st Dec I successfully redeemed one class upgrade voucher from PE>Biz at BLR T2 check-in counter. even though my PE booking made via PE voucher.😎

this one is Air India A350 domestic route. currently operating only on HYD-DEL route.

There are 6 brand new A350-900 in AI fleet, currently all deployed on UK/US route. only exception is now HYD-DEL route.

AI 430 means its a flight no, not an aircraft type.

Thanks for letting us know. Can you tell more about the redemption procedure at airport. Also, did Reward Seat availability mattered for your flight upgrade?
