Air India Express domestic flight - cabin baggage restrictions

Hi All, I have booked a domestic flight from BLR-COK for next week.

I see a strange requirement in the list of things to take care.

Note: Except for medical devices, electronic devices which are larger than a cell phone/smart phone cannot be carried in the cabin of the aircraft.
• Note: Only cell phones of dimension Length: 16cm x Width: 9.3cm x Depth: 1.5cm are allowed in the cabin baggage. Please carry all other electronicequipment inside check-in

Why is it like this? Is it a new requirement? Anyone travelled recently can you update please?

Flew BLR-BOM on AI Express on Sunday, carried my laptop + tablet in cabin as always, no issues.

Such a daft rule. Where is this written? Nothing of the sort is written here: https://www.airindiaexpress.com/content/dam/air-asia/mandatory-disclosure/AIX_Prohibited_Items.pdf
Thanks a lot for the reply.
It's there in the PDF that got generated for booking confirmation. I've cropped this part. Rest of the contents of that PDF contains my travel itinerary. I can share the full thing.

Ignore this. What can or cannot be carried is decided by BCAS and is standardized across all carriers.

Seems so. Thanks. I also contacted AI desk in COK airport and got it confirmed. + The PDF PNR confirmation email did't have this kind of limitation.
Looks like this is a glitch from Neu.

There was no electronic device inside, they just said looks like ur laptop bag and stroller is more than 7kgs.
Yea. That happens from time to time if flight is over booked and weight is too much. And if the bag looks bulky, they can ask for it to be out into checkin. Specially if lots of people have multiple carry ons. Not just with air india. Faced this with go air, indigo, spicejet also. Even on international flights at times.

Oh never happened with me in past, looks like a new thing.

yes, I have seen it many times, They won't force, but ask if we can give the bag for checkin. I dont want to wait at the baggage belt, so I always keep everything with me. The original post is about a different rule that I saw strangely.. They don't allow any electronic in your hand baggage. That is absurd.

That shouldn't happen. In fact anything with batteries is usually not allowed in checkin (by the airport authorities around the world for security). Specially laptops etc.
So agree that rule mentioned is outright absurd.
