Airtel bank launch India's First Biometric RuPay Card (Fingerprint based RuPay Card):

Norwegian biometrics company Idex, in collaboration with Hitachi Payment Services and Airtel Payments Bank, has launched India's first RuPay payment card featuring fingerprint authentication.

The announcement was made at the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai and comes in the wake of new central bank regulations that permit biometric verification for digital payments.

The card is currently undergoing a pilot phase before a wider rollout.
