Amazon subscription service gave me wrong product. What are my options?

I bought an Office Home 2024 subscription through Amazon, but received Office Home 2021 in the mail. It is not a subscription product per se, but Amazon lists in subscription option along with office 365 versions.

Initially, the customer support team directed me to contact Microsoft, which I found amusing. However, after transferring the chat to the relevant team, they contacted the seller on my behalf. I can see this message in my Amazon sent messages. The seller, Euronet, was asked to respond within 48 hours, but they did not.

I contacted Amazon again today. Both the initial representative and the senior team member they transferred me to insisted that contacting Microsoft would resolve the issue. I repeatedly explained that Microsoft should not be responsible since they did not sell me the license. I purchased it through the Amazon platform, and Euronet is the seller, but they continued to repeat the same. I requested to file a complaint, but they denied this option as well.

Now, I'm unsure how to proceed. Should I try contacting chat support again during the day? (I contacted them at 4:00 AM.) Or should I use phone support, email, or social media? Perhaps even consider the consumer court? The order amount of ₹7,790 is significant, so I cannot ignore this issue so easily.

I am a frequent buyer at Amazon. A prime member too.
 
Amazon India's customer service is worst. You can try a few more times in a hope that someone knowledgeable will help you with your query.

BTW, How did you know that it's 2021 key? It was mentioned in the email you received OR showing like that in the office after the installation?
 
This is one example of why Piracy is the best way. Here is an honest guy trying to get a legit license and he gets screwed because Microsoft has a shitty retailer.

If you used a credit card, File a chargeback immediately and mention "wrong item received" and that the merchant is not helping with either cancellation or refund. Keep written records and proof. Always file an immediate chargeback for any issues with non-returnable items. Which credit card did you use (if any)?
 
I used amazon gift card 🥺 because that gave me more discounts compared to ICICI Apay CC.



I purchased from Amazon and the seller was EuroNet. So, Microsoft wasn't involved
Euronet would be Microsoft's retailer. Microsoft has shitty retailers all around the world. You are screwed in the case and your only hope now os Consumer Forum raise a complain there.
 
Did you try chat support or phone?
Via phone you can get connected to L2/L3 etc. and they have the authority/privileges to file a ticket.
L1 or other lazy agents write notes against the order number. No one cares about those notes. Only when there is a proper ticket, they do something. You have to ask them the ticket number. If the ticket number is same as the order number then its a note.
