Amex Platinum Charge Activation

I had applied for the Amex Platinum Charge Card through a referral link and received the card a couple of days ago. I have not yet activated the card.

1) I had read somewhere that one can negotiate for Membership Rewards points as a welcome bonus instead of the vouchers they give. How do I do this? Can anyone guide me since they clearly denied its possibility when I called?

2) I remember seeing an additional 10k Air India welcome bonus. I can't seem to find it anymore, and the customer care team also seems to have no idea about it.

1) Not possible now, before apply and only if you have upgrade offer, they do not give by default on fresh applications. Even if they do its as per their, not as per our numbers. So, you may get 100k instead of 135k, very difficult.
2) Depends on offer when you applied, not possible now. If its there then you'll get otherwise standard benefits only.

Try contacting the customer care once before activating the card, and ask them about the points upon activation. Mention that you have an upcoming international trip where you are planning to use the amex points on marriott stays, and taj vouchers would not be useful for you right now. They might change your taj vouchers to amex points based on your negotiation. Worked for me.
