Anantara mai khao phuket @25k instead of 1.3L (but there is a major catch)

phildunphy

TF Premier
VIP Lounge

HDFC concierge sent me this a while back and my brother-in-law took this offer and went through it.
The website lists the Villa he stayed at 1.3L with breakfast, he paid 299 USD without breakfast.
Sounds too good to be true? Maybe or Maybe not

So the catch is, Anantara Vacation Club are targeting <supposedly> high value individuals in South east asia and middle east by including this tiny clause in this big 3 page document

Neither of us actually bothered to read this bit and the HDFC concierge team comfortably forgot to mention this.

Apparently according to him, the presentation lasts for 4 hours. They sell timeshare for 20 or 25 years like our Club Mahindra, and given he travelled with his kid and his wife, he got pissed.

Worst part is when he declined outright on day 1, they turned hostile and they didn't treat them well for the rest of the stay.

Anyway, the positive from this story which he mentioned was,

"If you travel as a couple and show some interest and can put up with a sales person for 1-2 hours a day spread across either breakfast and dinner or lunch/breakfast, they let you be in peace for rest of the day"

Question is, Is 2 hours per day for 4 days worth 1L to spend in an awesome Pool Villa?

@Mods : I assume this does count as a genuine Trick to save money to spend in a luxury resort, if not please let me know and i will take this thread down or move it to wherever it fits better.

Not a trick but an eye opener or a value add for luxury so let it be as of now
Other mods or admins can pitch in pls

When I received the offer I was under the impression it was one presentation, 90-120 mins in total not every day!!!

I get similar offers from Marriott and others a few times View attachment 18886a year. Never bothered. But should be good value for anyone looking to stay in a luxury property and willing to put up with their high pressure sales tactics and presentations. View attachment 18885View attachment 18884

I have never received Mariott once, although i don't see what timeshare Mariott might sell.
Anantara club is their equivalent of Mahindra Club resorts, so 20/25 years for 40k euros is what is going rate supposedly.

Even I thought it's for one presentation after reading that screenshot above

Yeah worse is depending on which sales person you get they either let you alone after saying No with gentle nudges through the trip or become hostile. They take the kid and put them in kid zone (or whatever its called), so no issues there and then they lay it on the parents to buy this deal.

He was unlucky that he got the worse one (his words lol), but apparently the ones who travelled without a kid got out real easy.

Thats terrible, never liked such sales tactics

lol does hdfc know its pushing HNIs through so much pain in the name of a discounted stay
That’s the worst part, I called concierge around same time my relative did, both of us heard the entire pitch, not once did hdfc say anything about it.

Post the trip when asked, they said it’s mentioned in T&Cs

I am also getting same email from club marriot, is it good to go ? I mean they allow 6 persons so can go 2 couples, just show some interest first and then deny...

if anyone has travelled, can share their experience here

the more the merrier (for them)... imagine being called "cheap" in front of your friends and spouse (and others as well).

Its a great deal, but I would suggest you to discuss with spouse/friends first that whatever they say, just ignore and do not take anything "to heart".

Always remember that their tactics to shell out money from you would change and update (its a continuous process)

Well any emails from HDFC, ICICI or SBI regarding any hotel deals just go to my trash / junk folder. The reason precisely is because of above. HDFC / ICICI / SBI will do anything to cheat people.
The only hotel offers worth even considering are from Amex and that too need review.
You are better off taking deals from Mariott Bonvoy direct booking or Accor or Hilton honors (rarely).
