I haven't installed cred just because of this email access issue. Can we give access to sms alone? In that case, will it read all SMS, I mean is it safe to because for most of my apps, I have given auto read OTPs. Will CRED do any mischief with OTPs?Use CRED, if you don't care too much about rewards for paying off credit card bill. It is good and tracks your credit card bills through SMS. Don't give it E-mail access for more security. It is no frills and easy to use.
Even if you don't pay through CRED, it can help track your bills, unless you are a pro excel person with skin in the game for credit cards.
No issues reported yet from CREDI haven't installed cred just because of this email access issue. Can we give access to sms alone? In that case, will it read all SMS, I mean is it safe to because for most of my apps, I have given auto read OTPs. Will CRED do any mischief with OTPs?

Actually I have never felt the need of CRED. I use to pay all bills through Amazon pay, not just credit cards but other utility bills too. I get timely reminders from Amazon pay when the bill is generated. That too Amazon pay sends a message in WhatsApp as well.I never installed when it asked PAN (not sure whether still needed or not, that is more dangerous than any).
Regarding auto read OTPs: It is secure due to API limitation. Apps using Google's SMS Retriever API or equivalent services do not get full access to your messages; they only read SMS from specific senders.
But in order to get bill amount or anything, they need full access and we do not know what happens at the backend. I would never provide SMS unless its SMS app or same company already getting that in another app.
Why don't these greedy banks sends us sms on last 2 days when we don't pay.It eliminates 3rd party and let's users tension free. But They want us to silently skip bills and pay them charges.Actually I have never felt the need of CRED. I use to pay all bills through Amazon pay, not just credit cards but other utility bills too. After paying the bill for the first time, I selected to remind me next time when bill is generated, it does the job pretty well.

Yeah 100% truethats the ultimate business for banks. default and get 42% interest rate.. best ever plan from bank. They'll wait for us to fail to remember.
Havent faced any issue so far with CRED because of giving SMS access. If you are sceptical about giving it SMS access then create a dummy email and create a rule to forward all your Credit Card statements to that email id, then it will not be an issue, as CRED get to read only those emails and nothing else.I haven't installed cred just because of this email access issue.
