Assistance on Hotel Points purchase/transfer

I've never used points or credit cards to reserve a hotel. Regarding these matters, I am completely clueless. My friend has some points in Amex and I have a Marriott Hotel booking scheduled for my journey to Dubai in Jan'25.

I plan to use his points and pay him a fair amount against the same so win win situation for both is that possible? Since I'm a novice in this situation and would prefer not to cause myself any trouble, kindly provide some perspective.

I was suggested to post as thread.

I'm giving him a decent value and am saving a decent value as well so should I choose this option or should I book directly and pay the amount as per the website.

I've never booked via points or anything before. I'm doing this for my parents as they're visiting Dubai.

You can pay your friend 33 Paisa per point but choose hotels which are City centre

@drsel or Can someone please help me with the terms and conditions for transferring points? Customer care says the account should be 30 days old and have "qualifying activity." What does that mean? My account is 30 days old, so that's not an issue. But I don't understand what "qualifying activity" is. My friend will transfer points to his MB from amex, and then transfer them to me. Is that okay? I want to book a hotel in Dubai for my parents using points so I can save some money. but now this seems to be a headache 🙁.
