Axis ATLAS - Credited only 2% EDGE Miles for Vietjet airline transaction instead of 5%. What to do now?

I recently made a transaction on the Vietjet Airlines website and paid using my Axis ATLAS card. Since it was a direct airline website booking, I was supposed to get 5% EDGE miles credited but to my surprise, I got only 2% EDGE miles credited. At the same time, I also made another transaction on Vietnam Airlines website and I got the correct - 5% EDGE miles for that transaction.

I called up Axis customer care and asked about this issue and they opened a service request for the same. Today I got the following mail response saying that the issue is closed and they decided not to give the 5% EDGE miles I am supposed to get.

I am seeking the community's guidance on what I should do now. Should I complain to the RBI ombudsman using the link they mentioned - https://cms.rbi.org.in or is there any other better way to take this forward?

Also, I've been following the community for a long time now, but this is my first time posting. So please let me know if I am posting this incorrectly or in a wrong section and I will correct that as required.

Some Airlines such as Cathay Pacific (and in your case Vietjet) give travel agent MCC while booking tickets in INR... It is a known issue and you can read more about it on this thread... You can try raising the complaint, but not sure if it will yield anything fruitful. Travel agent MCC gives 2% miles as per T&C of Atlas. Only hotel and direct airline MCC give 5%. In this case, fault lies with airline booking system

Add Air Arabia to the list. I got 2 EM instead of 5 on Air Arabia.

I travel on Vietjet quite frequently and have always got 5X. In your case the merchant name of Vietjet is quite different from wht i always get

Is there a way we can know what the MCC is, before making the payment? If not then what is the point of Axis Bank mentioning the exception list in the T&C?

You can do small transaction and confirm with bank on MCC... that is one option.

Do one google search on technofino / reddit to check if people have reported any issues ... thats the second option. At lest for many airlines you will come to know whether Atlas gives 5% miles or not from these forums... for less reported airlines, it is always going to be hit or a miss
