Axis bank , charging monthly penalty , 725 rs for non maintenance of min balance from last 1-1/2 year , from my priority nro account . I am also not operating bank from last 1-1/2 years . is it as per rbi rule ?

Looks like a waste bank...when they migrated from citi to Axis my account shown as liberty acct..I also got liberty debit card but now downgraded to Prime in just a month..

Obviously it's as per banks terms and conditions which you signed on while opening the account. However, when closing the account, they can't ask you to clear the negative balance if your account is marked as inoperative. So better to make sure you do no transaction for next 1-2 year and then close it without paying any charges.

If Axis has penalised you without making your bank balance negative, in the name of non maintenance charges only then it's as per RBI rules & vice versa.

Further, if you haven't done any txn since 2 years but then also Axis is levying charges form April, 24, then it's not as per RBI rule.
