Axis Reserve 2x on international spends not given

So, I recently went abroad and did spends. For all spends where DCC wasn't involved (i.e where foreign transaction fees was levied), I have gotten 2x edge reward points, but for the spends where I paid with INR(internationally) for which I was charged DCC, I didn't get 2x rewards. Is this expected? Or should I raise complaint about it? All these are international transactions and I should've gotten 2x rewards for all of them, Axis Reserve page doesn't specifically say that its not applicable for such transactions

What should I do now?

@TechnoFino, please help if you have any idea on it

T&C says 2x on international transactions which basically means any currency other than INR.
international transactions are any transactions thats done with international merchant, either in INR or other currency.
@saketreddy , sharing another link which shares excerpt of TnC - https://www.technofino.in/community...-conditions-with-effect-from-05-03-2023.7440/
And the image, which says DCC is applicable for international transactions paid in INR, this proves that those transactions are international, right?

2 things:
1. Avoid DCC transactions like the plague or Covid-19. They are the worst.
2. 2x is on forex spends. DCC isn't a forex spend. Your physical location or your merchant's physical location has nothing to do with it.

You're in the wrong here. You won't get 2x. Take it as a life lesson and move on.

@PiperatGatesofDawn, 2x is on international spends as mentioned on their reserve website

I understand you're upset on 3 counts... horrible exchange rate + 1.18% extra charges + no 2x reward points. However being upset doesn't make you right. Still, I don't argue with Trump supporters on who won that last election. And I most certainly won't argue with you on this.

All the best in your fight with Axis.

Wow @PiperatGatesofDawn epic sense of humour..🤣🤣🤣

I understand you do have a way of answering questions and certainly I won't be arguing with you. I guess you seem to know more than me but just aren't able to convince me with any valid points as using fancy sentences and bringing in Trump doesn't make you right either

But thanks for understanding my pain point. I guess it wouldn't hurt to check with Axis Bank team on this, if this is indeed the fate, maybe this is the learning, if it isn't, then atleast it would've been worth the hassle.

You are not the first person to have fallen to this scam. Pretty much everybody who has gone abroad and been offered DCC has gone 🤑 when they thought "no 4% (or whatever) forex fees and extra rewards.... awesome... I'll take 3 please!"

I have no idea how Axis has worded their agreement. But there are 2 parts to any agreement - what's written verbatim and a reasonable interpretation of what's written that takes into account language, industry standards and prevailing practices etc. And DCC unfortunately doesn't get benefits with any bank I know. So you certainly can fight over the definition of "international transaction"...

Also, as I said earlier... never DCC - simply because you'll get the worst exchange rate possible. Sometimes even with 10% markup and more. It's completely dependent on the merchant on what they want to charge you.

I totally understand that, imagine how I feel when after coming from abroad and nearly paying approx 1L in transactions with DCC approach, I see today links and realise that I should've taken the Forex way. I had got this card solely because I wanted to leverage the 2x reward abroad. It just doesn't feel good you know

And truly what's the point in these learnings now? Now that Axis Reserve is getting devalued😞

We all live and learn. Axis Reserve is getting devalued... people are acting like the world will stop spinning. There is lots of point to these learnings.

Also, didn't you ever check the reward points accumulation in your account while you were on your trip? The 2x bonus will post in the same way regular points post.. usually in a couple of days.

I didn't because I didn't think there was any difference between the forex and DCC transaction. I checked online for the 1st transaction and that was via forex and I saw the 2x rewards credited 2 days later. Didn't know different set of rewards existed when the Axis claims its 2x for international spends and my spends were international @PiperatGatesofDawn

I have gone through Card Member Agreement and MITC, none of them mention any specific thing regarding 2x not applicable on DCC transactions
When you paying DCC , it means that the POS has converted the currency into INR from their local currency , so for axis the spend was done in INR and no forex was involved hence no 2x

As usual Axis is at fault here for poor legalese. OP technically does have a case here. But it will probably require him to escalate to RBI or to sue to get proper resolution. By Axis' definition 2x is due.

Here's how Axis (poorly) describes an "International Transaction".
1.9 International Transaction / Usage - Transaction at Overseas Merchant Outlets, Overseas ATM, or on websites originating outside India.

@PiperatGatesofDawn @QUIKSILVER27 , just wanted to let you know that I got my 2x points. Fought for it, escalated it internally with Axis and created a case with RBI Ombudsman!
Its just my habit to fight for what's right and never give up. I didn't wish to comment, but I wanted anyone else coming here to know that its possible.
It is a long fight, I don't deny, it may not be worth it for most people, but it certainly was for me.
