Best cards for redeeming points for flights and hotels

My goal is to collect points and redeem them only for travelling I do not much care about other offers or rewards. Just want to experience travelling in business class and staying in 5 star hotels.

Which card should be my starting point and how should I get started in collecting the said points? Should I join hotel or airline programs or credit cards are good start? Any guidance or knowledge would be appreciated.

I am okay to pay credit card fee upto ₹10-15k given I am able to recover this paid amount back in some or the other way.

Are you saying unlike we use Indian cards to transact in USD it has forex and additional chargers, AMEX doesn't?

Which Amex would you recommend? Never though about this.

Check the other thread that has list of all credit cards that offer miles. Bear in mind that most miles programs offer most bang for the buck only when travelling international. Figure out where you might be travelling more - East or West. If East, pick something like SQ's Krisflyer, and accordingly the cards on which you can accumulate Krisflyer miles. If West, perhaps one of the middle-eastern airlines. For hotels, not much options other than Amex for Marriott. Also remember that many a times, unless you are a die-hard points addict, it might be easier to buy a revenue ticket and upgrade using miles. Works OK domestically for Vistara if you time the revenue ticket properly.
