BoB Card Experience - First rejected then approved after complaint

TF Premier
Reason Behind Application:

I decided to apply for a Bank of Baroda Premier Credit Card, primarily to take advantage of instant discounts and offers. Since I was specifically looking for a lifetime free (LTF) card, the Premier card seemed like the perfect choice.

Application Process:

Initially, the application process appeared smooth. Upon applying, my card was shown as approved with a credit limit of ₹3 lakhs, and I promptly completed the required documentation on the same day. The next day, I received an email requesting additional documents, which I submitted without delay.

Following this, Bank of Baroda conducted in-person verifications at both my office and home within a couple of days. These verifications were completed successfully. Overall the process was fairly smooth. Everything got done in around 3-4 days.

The Aftermath:

About a week later, I was notified that my application had been rejected due to "internal reasons." Not willing to give up easily, I reached out to their customer support via email to understand the rejection. Their support was very slow, got reply after 3-4 days which was just the usual slob about internal reasons. I persisted and sighted RBIs policy about providing reason for rejection. After a month of back-and-forth communication, they finally disclosed that the rejection was due to me not availing the auto debit facility whatever that means. This explanation felt arbitrary and frustrating. By this point, my patience had worn thin. As a last resort, I raised a formal complaint with the RBI Ombudsman.

Final Approval:
Surprisingly, the very same day I submitted my complaint, my card application was magically approved. To my astonishment, the card was dispatched the next day without any further issues.

RBI Ombudsman FTW! I'd suggest everyone to do report things and not let the banks get away with it.
