afaik amex only does a succesfull points transfer if only if name on amex account and emirates account match
Oh - did not know about this. Where can I buy Amex points from? Not finding a direct link - just written on their website that you can but not able to view the page where I can buy

I think you need to call them. For each card, once a year, one can buy total of 10k pts. Payment is 4k for this purchase. Whether this includes or excludes taxes I dont know as I have personally never used this feature. 40% overall is not a bad price to pay in case one is short of points. Others may also opine on the taxes if someone has used in their accts.
