Call from bank regarding signature mismatch on PANCARD and bank form.

I have a HDFC bank salary account since 2021 which is no longer used regularly as I changed jobs in 2022 and it is only linked to my PF.

Today i got a call from an HDFC bank employee from Gurgaon branch saying that they were conducting an audit and found that the signature on my pan card does not match the signature on the bank form and my account will be blocked if i do not get this rectified within one week.

I requested the caller to provide his official id card which he has done. I then contacted HDFC CS and they confirmed that they have an employee by this name at Gurgaon branch but they were unable to confirm the subject matter of the call.

Is this a genuine call?

Generally, these matters are communicated through an official mode other than a phone call. Wait for such emails to come and then take a call if required. Call your home branch to see if there is any truth in the claim if required.

Pancard signature and signature in account can be different no problem .

Visit any nearest branch and find out .
 
Thank you. This person said that I should visit the nearest branch and then call him and let him speak with whoever I am speaking with in the bank. This person knew the date of opening the account and type of account as well. Said he was from Gurgaon head office.

First you tell, the signature you are doing on forms, and the signature on the PAN card are same or different ?
If yes, then no Harm in going and update the signature in nearest branch.
 
As everyone suggested, it is best to visit your local branch and get this sorted. Since HDFC doesn't have the concept of a home branch, you can go to any closest branch.
 
If there is an issue, then it should be flagged in the system itself. So, all you need to do is walk into the nearest branch and ask them to check their system. But the very fact that the person wanted you call him back from the branch and then make the local branch person talk to him raises red flag.
It is the responsibility of the bank to give formal communication of such things at least by email. So do nothing and wait for the email. If account get blocked without any such formal communication, raise issue with PNO.
 
This is exactly what is bothering me, why has there been no official email or a call from an official number. I asked him for his ID which he provided after some hesitation it has “RETAIL BRANCH BANKING” mentioned under his name. I have no clue what this means.
