Hi

I know we can claim HRA for the rents paid to parents if we stay in parents home.

But my parents stay in a rented accommodation and i pay rent to the landlord. In this case can we claim HRA for the rent paid to landlord for my senior citizen dependent parents?

I googled i couldn't get right info

I think logically it's possible if u can prove that you r staying in that rented house for sometime (during the financial year). Provided, u don't claim this benifit for any other houses, u are not claiming any benifits related to housing loan/rents, and ur landlords paid the tax / declared ur details.

Get the rent agreement in your name. But first confirm that with your employer bcz some companies keep a cap on distances of rented property.
Like you say you work in Mumbai but claim HRA for house in Delhi, most probably company might not agree.

In such cases you can go through section 80GG. For 80gg you have to give up HRA. Learn about it, calculate values for both then decide accordingly.
