Cashback CC issued even though applied for Platinum CC

The application PDF sent by HSBC does not mention card variant. HSBC claiming that I applied for Cashback CC. I had no idea, else I would not have received the courier.

Phone executive is asking to clear dues ( Joining Fee ) for taking card closure request.

I have not performed any transaction on the CC.
I haven't set PIN.
I have not performed any task ( SMS / Missed Call / Link Click ) to provide consent for CC activation.

Suggestions ?

Just ignore the sms. If card not ACTIVATED by you then it will automatically get deactivated by 30 days

Problem is that statement will get generated by then with outstanding joining fee.. Obviously they will mark as late-payment or defaulter on CIBIL :-(

As per RBI guidelines banks automatically close your CC if you do not activate your CC within 30 days of approval
You can complain to the RBI Ombudsman against bank about any charges and late payment reported by the bank

Getting HSBC cashback card is more difficult I feel.

Since 3-4 months of my usage, I'm clocking minimum 10k in Dmart & getting 1k+ cashback every month 😛

Its very good card as every family has to buy stuff in groceries or dine out

Yeah have called them to ask if they can flip my visa Platinum to cashback hsbc. They nodded yes.

They are willing to do it...

I did some nice spending & asked them to convert my CB to LTF. They said they can convert it into visa platinum LTF lol

Can we hold both cards ? So that as and when required we can close the paid and keep the ltf one ?

Nope, they were not allowing 2 cards under normal circumstances... but allows you to flip them across...
May be if you have some banking relationship, they may give their special HNI card.
