When activating a new cc do we need to make one transaction or just installing the concerned app, adding card details and generating cc pin activates it with no need of any purchase?

No need to purchase. There are multiple way to activate the card, depends on the card issuer. Check the guidelines that will come along with the card.

Setting the PIN may be a separate process for some card issuers. In such cases, activation is needed to be done through different method, before setting the PIN. Either way, you don't have to purchase anything to activate the card.

Always check the guidelines that come along with the card / welcome kit.
