Charge card vs regular cards

How is a charge card really different from a credit card with let’s say a high limit? From what I know amex gold and platinum both have shadow limits above which the transaction will fail. Isn’t this the same as what would happen with a regular credit card? I know the limit changes dynamically based on spends and you can even request before hand for higher purchases but even regular cards have limit enhancements and overlimit facilities

One that i can think of immediately is that with charge cards you need to pay in full every month, no roll over. With regular CC with say, limit of 2L, txn would never go through, but with charge cards you can talk to amex and get a txn approved before carrying it out.

Internet has vast articles on your request.

Major difference, at any case you have to pay full by due date in charge cards and no option to convert EMI.

Charge cards are like DTH (private), recharge and stop if due date approaches, to continue you have to clear and continue.

Credit cards are like Cable (local), you can ask them or pay min. or convert EMI. There is no stop here (immediately*).

I am aware of the vast articles, I even have the gold charge card myself. They are marketed as no “pre-set spending limits” yet they clearly have limits just with different lingo.

So apart from the emi facility there’s nothing much else ? The emi absence anyway is not beneficial to consumers

limit point of view both cards are similar, its just that sometimes charge cards approved for more limit then credit cards.

Credit cards usually do not go beyond 110% with over limit fee. Whereas Charge cards can go more than that depends on your profile in that bank.
