Citi Account upgraded to Axis Burgundy - What's the catch?

Hi,

My wife's citi account was recently migrated to Axis Burgundy, and she received the Burgundy debit card a few days back (which is supposed to be quite premium debit card afaik). She used to maintain a very small balance in the account in citi, and so is the case with the migrated Axis account too.

I wonder what is the catch here? Why would they simply upgrade to a premium account variant unless they plan to add hidden charges here and there in the name of non-maintenance of balance or something of that sort? Anyone else received that kind of an upgrade recently?

there is something like hardships in the future... 🙂

Whatever you're wishing or hoping now (as you mentioned in last line), definitely will come tomorrow.

with recently you mean July (that's when all citi accounts were migrated to axis)?

It has been ~6 months and if they were going to surprise, you would have already gotten it by now.

If your wife is not meeting the burgundy criteria, they will downgrade it.

If you did not request the upgrade, it is possible that your wife is fulfilling any other burgundy criteria (Salary?)

Yes, it was upgraded during the citi to axis migration. No salary account, not sure why they gave Burgundy. I am guessing they will eventually charge for the Burgundy debit card after downgrading the account.
