Infinia Concerned Regarding Booked Flight Tickets

Almost 24 hours ago (less than that) I booked a couple of flights to Thailand for my friend and I for this Friday. Sadly, my friend's father had a heart-attack and obviously the trip is no more going to happen. I booked the trip via Smartbuy. Do the airlines/smartbuy have any policy to potentially cancel this without a huge cancellation charge? Or is this not even possible?

Some airlines have 24 hr free cancellation. Try googling and Immediately contact flight and smartbuy customer care.

All airlines have to refund full amount if cancelled within 24 hours of booking & travel date is beyond 7 days. Some give additional exceptions in case of medical emergencies.

yes call the smartbuy team they will help you out. Now days all airlines have medical exception. U need to submit some documents like hospital bill and you will get full reimbursement

That is what I am hoping for. the latter one. Given the flights are both international. It was a Thailand trip. And that we were supposed to leave on Friday, I hope the medical emergencies thing is considered. Contacted smartbuy, we booked them separately via cleatrip and easymytrip so they are going to call me back. I tried the portal for a 30k round trip, I am getting 19k back. Which I think is okay. Just unfortunate overall.

Thats a good return I must say. Most of the flights are sometimes non-refundable and they mention the amount that is refundable in case of cancellations at the time of the booking.

I was once offered this cancelation option for international flight tickets booked via Smartbuy because there was an issue with the date.
They refunded the amount and points separately after 15 days. There was a fine of approx 1800 or something that they charged.

The original flight was for 30K or so. The alternate option was cancel via airline which had 20-22K cancelation fee. Happily paid the smaller fine.
