Counterfeit Apple band - fulfilled by Amazon

I had assumed that the vendor “Clicktech Retail” was actually Amazon itself, similar to the earlier Cloudtail model, especially since the products were being fulfilled by Amazon directly.

Driven by my desire to earn 13% Infinia points, I decided to purchase an Apple Trail loop belt for my Apple Ultra from Amazon instead of the Apple website.

Upon receiving the product today, I noticed inconsistencies in the packaging. One part of the box stated “Manufactured by Apple USA,” while another indicated “Manufactured in China.” This discrepancy raised concerns about the authenticity of the product, suggesting a possible counterfeit issue.

I contacted Apple, and they advised me to visit an Apple store to have the product inspected. When I reached out to the Amazon representatives, they responded in their rich Tamil English, saying, “sirrrr, the produtz is geenuuinnne - it is maade by Apple USA inn Chiinna" 😳

I don't order any Apple products on Amazon. Worst case, I get it directly from their store.

That said, most Apple products are manufactured in China.

Some products can be validated for genuinity against their serial number. Not all products though. Product information on Amazon is the responsibility of the seller unfortunately. For your satisfaction, visit the Apple store to get a confirmation. A similar case happened in my case (charging brick) and Apple actually confirmed the product I had bought is genuine.

This means Apple, the company in USA has licensed manufacturing and quality control to Foxconn in China,
