credit card cyber fraud

Hi,
there is cyber fraud happened for my brothers icici and sbi credit card of rs 2 lac. he has reported to bank and police within an hour. But he is not getting support from bank as the transaction was otp based and his mobile was hacked. can anyone please suggest how can he fight with bank and also suggest any economical lawyer who can help in filing case.

Replace your card immediately and set transaction control limits on your card to prevent such frauds in the future. Check the merchant where the payment was made. Connect with the merchant and see if anything can be done. As it was an OTP based transaction, getting it reversed will be messy. Escalate the complaint to highest level. If it doesn't works, Banking ombudsman is your last hope.

Hacking into a mobile isn't so easy.

People who hold higher credit limit must be aware of this and disable online transaction. Enable only when you need or set low limit for online transaction

You will have to file an FIR. In case of an OTP based transaction the onus is on the card holder.

Get the complaint filed and then the reversal might be possible.

Write a mail to PNO. Explain what exactly happened and also attach a copy of FIR. See what do you get in reply. If you feel response is not satisfactory, you need to file a complaint with RBI.
