Credit Card for Accumulating Domestic Flight Points

I'm looking for a credit card that allows me to accumulate flight tickets or airline points for domestic travel, which do not expire. I haven't done any air travel in the last 5-6 years and don't have much knowledge about ticket prices or booking platforms like Infina smart buy or Atlas.

Since my kids are very young, I don't foresee any vacation plans for the next 1-2 years. I'm based in Hyderabad and currently have no plans for international trips until I complete my domestic vacations.

Could you suggest a good credit card that offers air miles or flight tickets for domestic flight bookings and doesn't have an expiration policy on the points or tickets? Also, if the tickets or points do expire within a year, can I book flights for others using those points or tickets?

I am not concerned about economy or premium economy. Also not very much interested in Hotel bookings, though my atlas points and Amex plat travel points will be used for hotel booking if needed.

Also, I'm unsure about booking Vistara/or any other flight tickets from Hyderabad and whether there are any challenges in using credit card rewards for these tickets, given the limited availability.

I have Infinia, Atlas and Amex Plat Travel.. All are paid.. Also have other LTF cards like ICICI Sapphiro/Coral , SBI SimplyClick , BOB ICAI , Indus Legend/Legacy, Idfc Select

I am looking at SBI AirIndia Signature card or any Vistara co branded cards. Or please suggest any other alternatives. I will be able to reach at least 5L on these cards.

Please suggest as per my needs. or Should I stick to Infinia&Atlas combo only?

Infinia is hands down best for domestic flight ticket bookings. You already have the best card for this purpose. Atlas is good for Accor hotels. Amex is again ok for hotels (Marriott or Taj)

Atlas offline return is much better.
Watch this video below if you need more evidence
For offline also, Atlas gives 4 miles per 100 normally which is same for AIS. For milestone AIS gives 5 miles per 100 which beats Atlas milestones. What am I missing here?

The fact that Air India miles are worth 50 paisa

But the author specifically wanted for domestic airmile redeem options. With Vistara out, all 3 miles options are worth 0.5-0.7 itself. For domestic airmiles redemption, I said this is the best there is.

Since you have infinia and atlas, you are pretty covered from lounge point.

I would suggest explore yes marquee card as it gives decent returns on online txn where smartbuy doesn't work.

Also it has portal to book flights and I think you can book flight for anyone's. Please check once.

Plus points recover fee as well so only gst is paid.

Return on SBI Air India signature is 4.5% when you hit the milestones of 10 lakhs or 20 lacs.

Better to use INFINIA on Smartbuy 5x & 10x to get much higher returns over 10%
Also use Atlas to buy air tickets directly from any airline which is cheaper than Air India, and get more than 10% returns

And then INFINIA points and Atlas miles can be used for flight booking

Of course infinia is the pick for getting maximum returns on flight tickets. I am saying for non smartbuy spends, when his target redemption space isn't hotels or foreign airline miles, AIS beats Atlas by a margin was my point.

Coming to buying tickers directly with airline, as he'd get 10 miles per 100 with Atlas, he'd get 35 miles per 100 for self and 15 miles per 100 for others with AIS on booking directly with Air India which would mostly be better than direct booking with Atlas.

Also, your valuation of 4.5% is an overkill for AIS (which still beats Atlas on non accelerated categories even considering 1 mile = 1Re there). You can check some sample routes and see the value. I see it something around 0.6 - 0.7 per point for routes I use.

You already have the Infinia, Atlas and Plat Travel - the three grails for any purchases.

Those should be enough and anything extra would just make your wallet heavier. 🙂

4.5% is the expert valuation of return on this card
2% basic return +
2.5% extra return on hitting milestones of 10 lacs and 20 lacs
