In the morning around 10:43 AM, when I attempted to make a purchase, my transaction was declined after entering transaction OTP and the order was not placed.
Then I cancelled the pending order. I contacted ICICI Bank customer care at that time and they informed me that the transaction was declined by the merchant and hence the order failed. They assured me to attempt to make the transaction after a few hours and that it would definitely go through but I didn't attempt the transaction again as it was a significantly big amount.
Later on in evening when I did another small test transaction on Amazon I was shocked to see much reduced available limit on my credit card which means the morning transaction suddenly went through. When I again contacted ICICI customer care, I came to know that the failed morning merchant transaction suddenly went through successfully at 3:11 PM without any authentication or attempt from my end even though the order was cancelled in the morning itself. The customer service guy kept on claiming that I initiated the same transaction again at 3:11 PM and authenticated with OTP which is not true.
Even though after a few hours that transaction was automatically reversed but still do you guys have any idea how can a failed transaction suddenly become successful after almost 6 hours?
