DCB Folks, does your DCB card work at merchant outlets outside India

I have a DCB since 2019, It got renewed in 2022. My card has never worked at a merchant outlet outside India. Ive tried it in Singapore & Thailand from stores, hotels, duty free zones but the only place it has ever worked is to provide free lounge access.

Am I the only one facing this ? I wrote to HDFC several times and am hearing conflicting information, some say that they cant find any issue with their system. My new RM says Diners card has a lot of trouble with acceptance outside India

Did you check if the card machines you tried have Diners network?

@TechnoFino can you validate this part ? I haven't ever been able to use my DCB offline outside India. I feel that this is a pretty significant drawback and I am reconsidering continuing with DCB because of that.

Places tried-
Singapore : Duty Free, Hotels, Top restaurants
Thailand : Duty Free, Flight extra luggage counter, Restaurants, shopping

I had similar issue. Tried using DCB at multiple outlets in US but it never worked. I am also thinking to discontinue this card at the year end and move to Regalia.

I have faced issues with acceptance in Continental Europe - Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany etc - noone accepts Diners. Have never faced this issue in US, it is accepted where Discover of JCB logo is displayed

Looking at the replies, DCB seems to be domestic only from a practical point of view
Even when using online, while it works with some giants like Amazon US etc. But many websites including major airlines do not support Diners on their portals.

99% places accept Discover/Diners club card in USA.

If you find a merchant that doesn’t accept Discover, you can message or call our 100% U.S.-based customer service team to let us know and we’ll work to add them - https://www.discover.com/credit-cards/card-smarts/discover-cards-acceptance/

Note - Discover Card is the owner of the Diners Club Card.

I used to use it until April 2022. I had done roughly 18 lacs plus spend. But their continuous devaluation and bad services led me to switch. And, now I have been using Magnus for my transactions.
