Is it for tan n pay through NFC apps like cred,Gpay etc?
Or for pos tap n pay transactions?
Does banks really record the mode of offline payment as well like through card swipe or tap n pay? I doubt they can track it effectively

Direct via cc, no apps.
They can easily track, otherwise how could they have different settings for contactless and chip based trans. Moreover if you have, check amex app it shows whether it a contactless trans or not

You are correct then, banks can track. Yes in amex it shows the contactless symbol on such txns.

In such case, it shouldn't matter if payment was directly via card on tap n pay on pos machine, or via any nfc enabled app through the pos machine. The payment mode I guess is same for the bank in both cases.

Speaking of which I am on the lookout for any NFC support for amex credit cards. I heavily rely on NFC and I guess it is the future for digital payments since one doesn't need to carry all the cards around

Also, similar to this offer ,.cred runs a monthly offer under which you get rs 50 as cashback on any txn above rs 200 via tap n pay. This is valid 3 times in a month for 3 different credit cards per se
