Kinda urgent, hence creating a new thread after searching quickly for my query on TF.

I am purchasing an electronic item from JioMart (I'm OK with that decision). They are offering a 10% discount on paying by SBI cards.

If I pay by SBI Cashback card, does it also provide 5% cashback on top of the discount or does SBI not give cashback for transactions where an instant discount is offered? I am seeing mixed reviews about this, hence looking for some confirmation. There are some threads on reddit talking about cashback being forfeited 3 months later!!

My alternative is to use Infinia, where I am again getting an instant discount of 10%, plus base reward points of 3.3%.

Could anyone with prior experience on this help confirm? Thank you 🙂

W.r.t sbi cashback u won't get both the benefits. If instant discount applies then they will forfeit 5% later. Better to use Infinia.

That's what I am leaning towards as well. SBI CB can be risky from what I am reading online.

I think this will get tagged as grocery MCC and Infinia has a capping of 2K/month for grocery spends, so overall an opportunity loss of ~1500 but better than worrying about CB clawback by SBI.

If you take advantage of an instant discount on any SBI card, you won’t earn the usual rewards that come with it. There have been cases where people still received cashback or points, but those credits were reversed later. It’s better to go with the Infinia card and get at least an extra 2k than to regret using the SBI cashback later.
