Double Dip - Emirates Skywards - Marriott BonVoy

Hi everyone, I wanted to share this insight from my personal travel experience in March. I am talking about the tie-up promotion (called Your World Rewards) between Emirates Skywards and Marriott BonVoy. You need to link up your BonVoy account with Skywards which enables you to earn miles/ points on both platforms for activity undertaken on either of them.

EDIT: Thanks @Ankur dhanda for pointing this out. His post made me dig for the details of Your World Rewards T&C. Have also annexed the pdf in case anyone wants to read the fine print. In essence, you have to be minimum Skywards Silver member to earn miles on Marriott stays. Similarly, you have to be minimum BonVoy Gold Elite member to earn points on Emirates flights. I guess this does make this double dip opportunity less attractive 🙁 sorry, if I got everyone excited.

I flew Emirates Business (return) between Delhi - London in March for work. Luckily I got to know about this tie-up a few days before my travel and I immediately submitted my request to link my BonVoy and Skywards. Unfortunately, the site does not always work and I could submit my request only on my third attempt. Even after linking, no intimation is sent via email. Even when I log in to my Skywards account, it still reflects as if no linking is there and the button to link both accounts is still active. In other words, I was not sure if the linking was done in their systems. Given that it is double dip, I left it to chance and did not bother with any follow-ups with customer service.

For each leg of the journey, I earned 6563 Skywards miles (total of 13,126 miles) which were reflected in my Emirates account after 3-4 days of completion of each leg of travel. I checked my BonVoy account after 10 days or so but no points were visible leading me to think that my linking had not gone through and left it at that.

I happened to check my BonVoy account again today and to my complete surprise, I saw 2 credits of 5622 points each (one dated 18th April and other dated 23rd May) which is a great earn rate. I think this is great way to double dip and earn points on both the programs.

I have an upcoming international travel to Singapore where I am staying at Westin. I will update the post if I earn any Skywards miles on that stay... (EDIT - Since I am still Skywards Blue member, I now understand I will not earn any miles on this stay)

Just log in to your Skywards account and then go to home page of Skywards:

Keep scrolling down and you will see the link for Your World Rewards like this:

Thanks
It’s available on 4th tab
I got immediate response
“Thanks for joining Your World Rewards
We’ve registered your Emirates Skywards and Marriott Bonvoy accounts for Your World Rewards benefits.”

Ah ok. Thanks for pointing out and helping me remember the nuances. I did the linking back in March so forgot about this condition. Since I am BonVoy Gold member due to Amex Plat Charge, I received the rewards.

I will update the initial post to ensure everyone picks it up.
Received the email like this

Yeah I’m also MB gold from Plat Charge, but not silver tier in Emirates 😬
Do you have Silver Tier or only MB Gold got you points in both?

Similarly MB also has a tie up with United, though there is no double dip available. Transferring miles from MB to United gives you an additional 10% and 5000 miles for every 60000 tranferred.
Hilton had a phenomenal double dip program which has been discountinued before some years.

You need to have a premier status with United to transfer to MB at 1:1 ratio.
MB has recently changed the 10% bonus when you transfer the MB points to United. They now offer a 10K bonus miles if you transfer minimum of 60K points. The effective ratio is 2:1 if you transfer 60K points, otherwise it is 3:1

Ah, apologies wasnt aware of this change

Flying Blue ( KLM/AF) offers double dip with Accor and no tier restrictions.
I linked my Accor with Qatar earlier this year. Now I had a international trip with KLM and a week stay at Accor but couldn't double dip as they told minimum 12 months gap is needed to link another. I was silently weeping.
