Fastag basic question

In the pre-Fastag era, we had to tell the toll booth person things like where do you want to go or if it was a same day return journey and accordingly the toll would be billed.
Now in Fastag, do we not need to tell anything to anyone? I presume the answer is "Yes", else that would defeat the purpose of Fastag. The same day return journey can be calculated automatically, but what about the destination? How would Fastag know that?

No you don't have to say anything. If you pass through the toll plaza again within a set period the second time you will get charged teh difference between the single trip charge and the return trip charge.
