This discussion should be heavily shared as almost all of us want to purchase Apple products at discounted price. Let it be Flipkart Big Billion Days or Amazon Great Festival, these big giants lists sellers offering lucrative prices. But I've been scammed in purchasing a refurbished iPad 6th 2018 which I purchased in 2019 ( given my student needs) with an Apple Pencil 1st gen.
Following events occured :
- I purchased the iPad 6th gen 32 GB @ 25999/- and Apple Pencil 1st gen in 2019 at discounted price from Flipkart
- The products were sealed as original ( and I've taken precautions to notice a fake one but not refurbished)
- After a year I noticed some dust under the touch screen and display ( previous iPads had sandwich screen and there is gap between the two) . Which I ignored given out of warranty and pricey repairs.
- Some more years until now the gap widened and more dust accumulated and I decided to get it fixed and increase the storage of iPad to 128GB ( by replacing the memory chip of 32 GB with 128 GB)
- The technician ( trusted one) called me and said the iPad is refurbished one - probably water damaged and camera has been replaced ( a serial number mismatch error in software when connected to PC ). He advised to NOT get the repair as applying heat to refurbished motherboard may render it dead!

As many of you trying to get iPhones and other Apple products in BIG BILLION DAYS AND AMAZON SALES...I advise you to NOT buy from online sellers. These sellers are shady and not regulated and the hassle of getting replaced is more as Flipkart and Amazon want you to get it replaced at official Apple store even though you purchased from Flipkart which is obnoxious!
People beware...never trust these online platforms and purchase through official stores! And ALWAYS CHECK YOUR APPLE DEVICE THROUGH A SOFTWARE TO BE SURE ITS A NEW ONE.

P.S : Forgive me for any post writing mistakes...I'm new to the community and want to contribute 🙏

Serious issue..
What i am asking, Havenot you verified the serial number for genuinous of apple product at the delivery of product at that time. This is the first thing every apple buyers are to do after getting the product.
Have you checked on apple site ?

I had done all procedures to validate after the purchase. In older iphones and iPads you can imprint the serial number of part on new replaced part to avoid detection by iOS. The point is if you are getting an Apple device get it as soon as it launches thereby leaving no room for shady practices. As device gets older the refurbished products appear in market. Also uptil 1 year there are barely any offers as the products sell like hotcakes. Use HDFC CC for upfront 4-5k discount and students discount ( MacBook and iPads). However I didn't face any problems until now , but everyone should be vigilant as you are paying full price!
