I booked a base room using 16.5K Marriott Bonvoy points, but the smart part is how I redeemed it.
My HDFC Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card gave me a 15K Free Night Certificate (from the joining benefit). I only added 1,500 extra points, which cost me barely anything.
Before arrival, I emailed the hotel requesting:
• Complimentary room upgrade
• Early check-in
• Breakfast
Initially, they confirmed only breakfast and said the other two were subject to availability.
But when I reached and waited a nominal time, they granted all my requests:
✅ Early Check-in
✅ Complimentary Room Upgrade
✅ Complimentary Breakfast
🛏️ Room:
They upgraded me to a clean, spacious room with a nice pool view(Suite Room). Experience has been genuinely amazing so far.
👨💼 Staff:
Staff are extremely friendly, polite, and quick to respond.
Special mention to Ms. Lakshmi, who assisted me very well throughout my check-in and interactions.
📍 Location:
Very close to the bus stand and railway station (not sure about airport distance).
💰 Value & Savings:
The base room normally costs around ₹13,675 (depends on demand & weekends).
But here’s where the card benefit shines:
HDFC Bonvoy card 15K Free Night Certificate = covered most of the stay
Added 1,500 points worth ~₹600
Joining fee ₹3,000 + GST ₹540 also contributed to this redemption value
✅ Total effective cost = ₹4,140
✅ Effective discount ≈ 70% on the base room price
This redemption made the stay extremely value-for-money. If you compare against a suite room, the savings percentage would be even higher.
