One of the beautiful things about the SBI Air India Signature card is the joining bonus of 20,000 points that you receive when you pay the annual fee.
It is probably one of the best value back one receives for any credit card against joining fee. Simply because 20,000 points would get you at least two tickets on domestic long haul (BLR - DEL or MAA - DEL). My average for those routes has been 9000 points.
However, I got to use the card without paying any joining fee for almost a year because I, as I shared here in this post, I had upgraded from SBI SimplyClick card to this card and paid the annual fee of Rs 500 for the SimplyClick just before the upgrade.
And I got to use the Air India Signature card for a year and enjoy its benefits, including the milestones, without paying a penny!!
I have recently paid the annual fee of Rs. 5000 and because this is the first ever fee I paid for the card I got the full bonus of 20,000 points. As opposed to the 5000 that you get for annual renewal.
Although I am not sure how this concept works for other cards, I find this pretty amazing.
While SBI has stopped issuing this card, and I am not sure what the future holds, this is a card that keeps giving and at least the best card that I hold in my wallet.
