Got charges on a cancelled ICICI credit card

I need some help with this weird thing going on with a cancelled ICICI credit card.

Charges were made on the card after I closed/cancelled(Got an email confirmation it was closed/cancelled with no outstanding). Also these were UPI transactions on a VISA card. Which as I understand it should not be possible.

I have been going back and forth with them for the last 2 weeks with their customer care(phone + email) and also the relationship manager. But it hasn't really gotten anywhere.

Last week I raised a complaint in my branch also. But they are telling me it will take some more time(week or two).

But now I am getting constant calls from their collection people. It is NONSTOP! Every 15 mins I get a call and even when I tell them it is disputed. They just keep calling! The branch people tell me they don't have any options. Customer care has been useless. Plus the bank has 0 transparency. So I have no clue what they are doing or if anything is happening.

Anyone have any ideas on what can be done here?

1. To first stops the calls.
2. To escalate this issue.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

To stop calls...

Ask the recovery agent/s to meet you in person and explain the issue. If you are not comfortable meeting in person, ask them to contact via WhatsApp. Try to find the actual agency name and the official email address. Most agents will loose interest once they know there is nothing to recover as their pay package depends on how much they recover.

File an online complaint with cyber crime police against the recovery agency.

Report the numbers in DND. This will damage the agency in the long term.

Install Truecaller or similar app to auto reject the calls.

To escalate the issue, contact RBI 30 days after your first e-mail communication with the bank regarding the issue and ask for compensation of 1lakh. If you don't ask for compensation, your issue will be given the last priority by ICICI.

So their pay is commission based. I did not know that, thanks for that information. I will try and meet/whatsapp them and see if that gets them off my case till ICICI can resolve this mess. Thanks once again.
