Has the point redemption value for Infinia/DCB increased for Gift Vouchers?

I was just checking the smartbuy store for points redemption for Infinia, the points value for all gift vouchers has increased from the earlier 50% value to about 70%.
For example, earlier 5000₹ amazon gift voucher used to cost 10000 points, now its showing only 7140 points.
Is this temporary or permanent??

Tanishq vouchers were always 1:1
Not sure about amazon vouchers

Personally i would think flights if you don't have too many points which might expire soon
Because like one flight is on a higher average would be 5k - so you can redeem 3.5k points every time
Or book flights for your friends 🤣

It seems it's for Infinia only. I have DCB and I don't see 0.7 redemption value. I see normal 0.5 only.

I can see that as double loss.

1. Losing 30% value by buying vouchers instead of redemption against flight tickets.
2. Opportunity cost : You'll lose the rewards for the same vouchers if you buy with some other cards. e.g. If you buy Amazon voucher with Magnus which gives 3x points and assuming redemption with miles, it would be 4.8%*3 = 14.4% value. Also this will help on achieving monthly milestone if you are close to 1L.

So it's loss of 30% + 14.4% = 44.4% loss in this case.

This is long debatable topic. Totally depends on how you consider your spends.
I took Amazon voucher which is 3x, if it's some other voucher with 5x or 10x then the opportunity cost would be much higher.
It basically comes down to the math that which route is more profitable.

If it's really near expiry and considerable amount of points, one more option is to convert it to Krisflyer or Vistara points which is 1:1 conversion. It can be used later on.
Converting to intermiles doesn't make any sense.

Sounds great. Does those points have any validity? never done that before.

In both the cases, validity is 36 months from the date, their point(miles) credited.
