I had similar experience from Yesbank. The agent mis-sold the card saying it has cashback, movie ticket offers etc. and LTF. The said benefits were completely different from what's shown on website - a low value/benefit offering. She even said that I have a great Crefit score when in reality, I didn't have any credit history prior to that.
Being a CC newbie then, I applied and realised my mistake on receiving the card.
Called customer care, registered a complaint for mis-selling. And then I started receiving call from the 1st agent apologising and requesting for activation of card and complaint withdrawal. I was stern on not activating as I felt cheated. Due to her request, I took back the complaint but cancelled the card.
A few weeks later, got a call from another girl posing as Indusind CC agent and sold similar benefits and shared a made-up pdf. Told her about the Yesbank experience and asked her to not mis-seld card.
Turns out she has heard my case with Yesbank 😂 but didn't knew I was the person. She and the 1st agent are working together. These agents are working for different banks from the same office/agency. They have targets, ofc, and she just wanted to meet that. Usually not many first time CC customers make it a big deal and this mis-selling is common.
So, I'd suggest anyone to not go ahead with these luring offers on cards over call from a random agent. Always stick to what's there on website or a promotional email or something official. IMO HDFC does this mis-selling officially - offering card as LTF and then putting a spend condition on it.
It's not a big deal, but a headache.
