HDFC card declined

So I applied for HDFC DCP card. I already Tata Neu Infinity and Virtual Rupay card but not any core credit card.
I had Times card but closed it around 8-9 months as I wanted a better card in future.
But the application got declined stating I already have a HDFC card. I had applied earlier too and was declined with the same reason but that was a month after getting my earlier card closed.
Anyway I can still get the approval. I have already escalated to Nodal Officer.

P.S. I am HDFC Preferred Banking customer.

Tough to get core card if you already have co branded one. Close all existing cc and then apply new, after that again get tata neu
